How did Internet Brokers come up with the name, e-mail trading posts?
A trading post was a store in a remote area of the American Old West, not near any town. At a trading post there was usually a place to both find a list of announcements about trade and business opportunities and for companies in the market for either new trade or business contacts to place an announcement. There were some difficulties associated with finding these announcements at a trading post. There were also some difficulties for companies listing announcements at a trading post in order to find new trade or business contacts. Internet Brokers created e-mail trading posts to use this relatively new technology to attempt to make it easier both to find these announcements about trade and business opportunities and for companies in the market for new trade and business contacts listing announcements to find new contacts.
Discovering a list of announcements concerning trade and business opportunities at a trading post presented at least three difficulties. First, visiting a trading post may have involved a lot of traveling. Second, further searching may have been needed to find the right person to start a discussion about an announcement of interest. Third, there may have been many announcements about trade and business opportunities advertised at a trading post to sort through.
Subscribing to e-mail trading posts tries to resolve these issues. First, e-mail trading posts list announcements about trade and business opportunities and e-mail trading posts are sent via e-mail, so there is no traveling needed find these announcements. Second, Internet Brokers has a connection with each company placing an announcement concerning a trade or business opportunity on e-mail trading posts, so there is no further searching needed to find the right person about an announcement of interest, assuming, of course, the contact at the company placing the announcement wishes to proceed. Third, e-mail trading posts list only six announcements from companies seeking either new trade or business contacts, so there are not many announcements to sort through.
For companies placing announcements in order to find new contacts, discovering new contacts by placing an announcement at a trading post also may have been difficult for at least three reasons. First, placing an announcement at a remote trading post may have involved a lot of traveling. Second, placing an announcement at a trading post may have resulted in receiving many unqualified inquiries. Third, there may have been many other announcements listed from companies in the market for either new trade or business contacts, competing for the attention of new contacts.
Placing an announcement to find either new trade or business contacts on e-mail trading posts tries to resolve these difficulties. First, since e-mail is used there is no traveling needed to place an announcement. Second, Internet Brokers has a connection with each company placing an announcement on e-mail trading posts and does not mention the names of companies placing announcements on e-mail trading posts, allowing inquiries to receive qualification. Finally, e-mail trading posts list only six announcements from companies in the market for either new trade or business contacts, so listed announcements do not have a lot of competition for the attention of new contacts.
